Instantly Save Twitch Broadcasts As VODs

Twitch allows you to automatically save your Instantly save Twitch broadcasts. If you enable the Store Past Broadcasts option, your streams will be saved for sixty days for Turbo and Prime users and fourteen days for free members.

You can download your VODs or turn them into highlights. Then, you can share them on other platforms to gain more subscribers and views.

Enable the Store Past Broadcasts option

As a Twitch streamer, you should know that there are several ways to save your past streams. One way is to enable the Store Past Broadcasts option, which will save your live streams as VODs. These videos will then be available for up to 14 days for regular users and 60 days for Turbo, Partner, and Prime members.

You can also save your past streams by converting them into Highlights, which are permanent videos that will not expire. You can find this option in your Creator Dashboard under the Content section. Once you’ve logged in, select the Video Producer option and choose the streaming session that you want to convert into a Highlight.

Remember that you can only have a certain amount of VOD storage, which is determined by your membership type. If you exceed the limit, some of your Highlights may be deleted. So be sure to check your quota regularly. You can do this by clicking on your profile icon and selecting the Creator Dashboard.

Download the VOD

Every streamed broadcast on Twitch is savable as VOD (Video on Demand), allowing both streamers and viewers to access the videos offline. However, there are many things to consider when deciding whether or not to save a VOD.

VODs are stored on a server until they expire, depending on the type of account: Regular Twitch users’ broadcasts are deleted after two weeks; Twitch partners and Prime subscribers can keep their VODs online for 60 days. Many streamers use their VODs in a video editor to trim down the best footage, or upload them to other platforms such as YouTube.

To download a Twitch VOD, you can install a third-party program on your computer. The most popular free downloader for Windows is Twitch Leecher, which features an ad-free interface and supports thousands of small parts in parallel. Alternatively, you can use Documents by Reedle on an iPhone/iPad. The app has a built-in browser and a powerful file manager that lets you manage downloaded files easily.

Edit the VOD

If you have enabled archiving of your livestream on the Twitch website, you can easily download any past broadcast as VOD by using the Video Producer feature. Simply click your profile image in the upper-right corner of the web browser, then select Creator Dashboard > Content and Video Producer.

When you open a VOD in Video Producer, you’ll see an icon with three stacked dots. Click the icon to open the video in a separate tab, and then click the icon again to download the VOD to your computer.

You can also edit the VOD before uploading it to YouTube or TikTok. For example, you can trim the VOD to shorten it or make it fit the format of your social media platform.

You can also add music to the VOD to give it more emotion and impact. Just make sure that the song you choose is copyright-free.

Share the VOD

If you’re a Twitch streamer, you can set up your channel to automatically save past broadcasts as VODs. You can also download your own VODs, as well as the VODs of other users’ streams.

Depending on your account type (Twitch Partner, Prime, or Turbo), the window for keeping your VODs on the site varies from 14 to 60 days. After that, the video will auto-delete.

To enable VODs, go to your account’s Settings on the website and flip the switch next to Store past broadcasts. This will also turn on Always Publish VODs, which allows your VODs to be published automatically as soon as you finish broadcasting. You can also find and edit your VODs in the Content section of your Creator Dashboard, which is accessible via the left sidebar. Alternatively, you can keep your VODs for longer by turning them into Highlights. You can then download the Highlights to your computer. This is useful for sharing your highlights with others, or to watch them offline.
